Frequently asked questions.
How do you work with your customers?
The way we work isn’t set in stone, we aim to offer flexibility to meet our customers needs, but you can expect it will go like this:
Initial call to discuss your requirements.
If it’s a simple job, we’ll provide a quote on the phone, send it to you on email, agree the time and date and get you booked in the calendar.
For more complex jobs we may need to visit the location first to understand the size and complexity of the job. After we’ve visited we’ll send a no obligation quote on email including price and time frame.
We’ll follow up to confirm you’d like to proceed and agree the time and date for the job
Are you insured?
Yes, Drone Discovery has public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
Where are you based?
We’re based in Derby in the East Midlands and offer services to the surrounding counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire. If you’re further afield, still get in touch, we are happy to travel.
Where and when can you fly?
There are strict rules on where we can fly our drones. The drone must always be in our visual line of sight (VLOS) and it is against UK law to fly a drone over a crowd of people. There are other specific rules depending on drone licenses held and speed and weight of the drone, all of which we are fully trained on and will provide any necessary details required for the individual job.
Weather is also a big factor. We’re unable to fly in strong wind, rain, hail or snow showers. If weather was to impact our ability to shoot on the date and time booked, we’d rearrange with you another suitable time.
Are your pilots trained?
Yes, our pilots have passed the A2CofC training and are CAA qualified, holding a valid drone pilots license.
What services do you offer?
We offer a variety of services to provide aerial photography and videography:
If you have something in mind that isn’t on the list, please do get in touch on 07967 962627 or info@dronedicsovery.co.uk.
How much are your services?
Our pricing varies depending on the scope and complexity of the work required.
For example, for a standard set of aerial roof inspection photographs you can expect a price from £100. For more complicated requirements, e.g. photos that require editing and / or videography, prices would vary depending on the complexity and time required to complete the job.
We will provide a quote for each job once we have an understanding of your requirements.
How long does it take to receive my photos and / or videos?
We aim to get unedited photos / videos to you within 2 working days. Any job requiring editing of photos or videos will have a longer lead time, this will be agreed with you upfront.
What drone do you use?
We use a DJI Mini 3 Pro. An excellent drone that shoots in 4K and up to 48 mega pixels. Weighing 249grams, this advanced drone has a wide variety of uses and can be used in areas that heavier drones are not permitted to fly.
